Los Angeles Solar Kits

Typical, non-commercial solar kits in Los Angeles utilize a 2 kilowatt (kw) rooftop system. Per year, this generates about 3,600 kw hours. For homes (not companies), this accounts for about half of the average electrical usage.

Most of the solar kits within Los Angeles (and, in fact, all of California) are grid-connected. This is true for both commercial companies and residential set-ups. A grid-tied photovoltaic system will supply public utility with any extra power generated.

Rather than storing the power, these solar kits allow homeowners or companies to be credited for that energy. This allows more of Los Angeles to benefit than just the residential or commercial entity using it. It does this by reducing the need for generators to be run during peak hours of energy use.
