Solar screensSolar screens can benefit a homeowner and his/her home in many ways.

Here are some of those benefits:
•Lower energy costs
•Cooler rooms during the summer months
•UV rays and heat blocked
•View retained
•Glare reduction
•Insects kept out
•Reduced fading of furniture and carpet
•Warmer rooms during winter
•Increased privacy

Most solar screens block 80-90% of the sun's heat. It is good to determine how effective they will be before making the purchase. Also, certain windows will require custom-fit screens.

Some people are hesitant about making such investments. This is often because they presume that solar screens will block their view. This is not true, however. Many are created as mesh versions, while others can be tilted for more visibility.

Solar screens may be appropriate for every window in a home, or just the south- and west-facing windows. Of course, they can just be utilized for the rooms which are used the most, or the rooms with the most valuable furniture. The reasoning for placing them in the room with valuable furniture is to protect them from fading.
