Solar cooking pot

A solar cooking pot heats food with solar thermal energy in very simple, yet efficient ways. These pots are easy to use and very easy on the environment. They are ideal for camping trips, or simply as a way to limit oven usage at home.

The black, dull surface of a solar cooking pot quickly heats up in the sun. The shallow design coupled with the thin walls allows for food to heat up even more quickly. A tight fitting lid retains the heat as well as moisture.

The transparent container of a solar cooking pot also aids in retaining heat. The clear material allows the light to enter but does not allow heat to leave. This is the same fashion in which a greenhouse operates.

A way to increase the effectiveness of a solar cooking pot is to prepare the food in smaller portions. This will allow the food to heat up much more quickly. For instance, potatoes would be better off diced, and breads as rolls instead of loaves.
