I bought a solar chill 1612 in 2002 because I am off grid. The summers here get up to 120 degrees. I have been running this unit with a 55 watt solar panel thrown out on the deck and no other power to it. It has kept this 1280 square foot house cool and comfortable for the last 7 years with the only added expense to me of replacement of the little water pumps twice (they are common 15.00 bilge pumps for a boat) and I sent for replacement cel dek pads and am about to install the 3rd set. I think they were 65.00 for 2 extra sets. The original unit costed 750.00 I believe. The little motor that runs the fan is getting a little loose and makes just a little noise now and if it gets too bad I will pull a replacement motor out of the drawer and install it. This is so simple a cave man can do it and I think the whole world should know about it. The truth is: It is totally green and people don't like it because they can't make a lot of money selling it. It is however environmentally responsible and is the difference between me having my brain fried from the heat and living comfortably.
