Need a basic solar powered fan for a solar demonstration? Use this kit alone to show solar power working to spin a small fan, or to experiment and learn what happens when the solar panel faces the sun at different angles. Makes a great ventilation fan for a model solar home!
Add a pulley to do weight-lifting demonstrations and show how the tilt angle of the panel affects how quickly the motor can lift a weight.
Add a multimeter to scientifically measure the electricity produced by the solar panel, and learn about voltage, electric current and power.
You can also add another solar panel to this kit, and wire the two panels in series or parallel to use different amounts of voltage and current in your experiments.
Kit includes solar cell, motor, fan and 3 feet of wire connected to the motor.
Panel measures 2.5" X 3.5", and produces 0.9 volts at approximately 400mA of current.
Solar panels work best in direct sunlight, but can be used for demonstrations indoors with a 100-150 watt bulb, set a distance of about 6-12" from the panel. To avoid damaging the plastic covering of the panel, do not keep close to the bulb for extended periods of time.
